SOUTH BUFFALO - The Cazenovia Library and Resource Center is continuing its tradition of doing big things with little resources. Deemed “the little library that could” Caz Library held an eight week fundraising effort that culminated in giving away $4000 on Dec 7 in their first annual “Caz Christmas Cash Giveaway”.

The Caz Library is without designated funding and relies on the efforts and generosity of its patrons and local businesses to continue its services to the community. The Caz Christmas Cash Giveaway saw hundreds of local residents and businesses come forth to participate in the recent fundraising effort, with top prizes of $2000 and $1000.

On Dec 7 Caz Library held a Christmas party to announce the winners of the cash prizes. Music was supplied during the event by South Buffalo’s own DJ Johnny K, who also serves on the library’s board. DJ Johnny K has provided sound for local weddings and events for nearly 20 years and donated his time at the recent library event in the spirit of the holidays. Many local residents and patrons came forth to donate baskets for the event. Several businesses made monetary donations to the library in the interest of maintaining the facility.

“In this holiday season the generosity of the South Buffalo community never surprises me,” stated Assemblyman Michael Kearns, who is spearheading the fundraising efforts for the library with the help of the library’s board members. “I would especially like to thank Crown Energy and Mercy Hospital for their continued support of the Cazenovia Library and Resource Center.”

Sail Buffalo Sailing School donated several sailing lessons and paddle boarding certificates to the event. Although not the season to be in the water, boating season will be here before you know it.

“We offer gift certificates for sailing lessons, paddle boarding lessons and paddle boarding rentals,” stated Captain Pierre Wallinder, who runs the nationally accredited sailing education program and donated the gift certificates for the benefit of the library.

Dozens of participants walked away with gift baskets, gift certificates and cash prizes. Everyone involved had a wonderful time socializing with others that find the Cazenovia Library and Resource Center to be an asset to the community.

Information regarding holiday gift certificates and programs for Sail Buffalo can be found at www.sail-buffalo.com or by calling 432-6589. If you find yourself in need of sound system services or a rental of a karaoke machine for your holiday party DJ Johnny K can be contacted at 472-9898.

The Cazenovia Library and Resource Center is a non-for-profit company that exists due to the generosity of the community it serves. Those wishing to make an end of the year tax deductible contribution to the library can contact the library at 821-0564 or stop by at 155 Cazenovia Street.
