Sam Ganshaw has accepted a position as sales supervisor of the E. Rauh & Sons Fertilizer Co. in Plymouth, Ind.
This year, the 150th birthday of the town of Concord, J. Willson Bement celebrated his 53rd year of business on Main Street in Springville.
Richard Quick, seaman apprentice USN, is serving with the Compartment Cleaning Department of the U.S. Naval Air Station in Brunswick, Maine.
Mrs. Michael Heichberger of Colden will celebrate her 90th birthday on July 22.

James Lillie, son of Helen Lillie Aldrow of Springville, will be ordained July 23 in Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Springville. He is the fourth member of the congregation to enter the ministry.
Boy Scout Troop 524 assisted in saving a drowning girl while on a camping trip to the Adirondacks, last week.
Rick Rudolph, a three-sport athlete at Griffith Institute, is the recipient of the Billy Kelly Award for Division IV of the Erie County Interscholastic Conference.

The Concord Town Board will build a new town library on the combined Kruse-Scharf property off Chapel Street.
Two members from last year’s Rich Stadium champion Springville Griffin football team will be playing in the 17th Annual Lions–Tops WNY all-Star High School Football Classic on July 29 at 7 p.m. at Lancaster High School. Jamie Cifersky and Mike Chisick were selected to play in this event, which showcases players who graduated from high school this past June.

Sardinia’s July 10 town board meeting became a family affair. Town Supervisor William Hare’s wife defended him and the rest of the town board after Allen Road resident Eugene Monaco and town resident Norm Smith talked between themselves after Monaco complained about the work Waste Management, an industrial waste reduction and disposal service, is doing behind his home.
Waverly Street resident Ursala Sasse confronted the Springville Village Board Monday night in regard to a sewer problem that occurred in her home on June 15. She told the board that there was real “black stuff” coming out of her shower and toilet.
Approximately 50 volunteers turned out July 1 to assist Sam Dayton of the West Valley Boy Scout Troop in completing his Eagle project. The volunteers helped build a nature path from the West Valley Central School grounds through the woods and up a hill to a picnic grove that is being developed.
Mike Wilson of Springville completed in the 22nd National Veterans wheelchair Games in Cleveland, Ohio from July 9 – 13. He earned two gold medals, one in motorized slalom and one in powerchair 229 and a silver medal in bowling. He also took part in exhibition power soccer in which he scored three goals for his team.
Erie County Sheriff Patrick Gallivan reported that a pilot received minor injuries when his 1990 Wheeler Gilbert single-engine fixed-wing plane crashed on Route 39 in the town of Collins at approximately 8:40 a.m. on July 4.
