Join us Thursday, June 20 at 7PM at the Lancaster Opera House for a special look at Pickett's Charge. The Buffalo Civil War Roundtable is pleased to present our final speaker in the Three Days at Gettysburg lecture series; Mr. J David Petruzzi.
He is a noted award winning author of several books, historical advisor to documentary films, including the forthcoming miniseries "To Appomattox" to be filmed in 2013, author of many articles in magazines including "Blue & Gray", "America's Civil War", "Civil War Times", etc.
Petruzzi's 2009 work with Steven Stanley produced "The Complete Gettysburg Guide" winning the US Army's Award for Excellence in the Reference Category. As a follow-up to this Petruzzi narrated an audio guide to the Gettysburg battlefield.
The 2011 release of "The New Gettysburg Campaign Handbook" by Petruzzi and Stanley is a companion to their "Gettysburg Guide", packed with narrative, trivia and facts of the entire campaign.
This is a free event for members. $5.00 non-members.
Raffle Tickets will be available for great Lincoln/Gettysburg themed prizes for an October drawing.

The 18th annual Ride For Roswell presented by West Herr Automotive Group will take place on Saturday, June 22, at the University at Buffalo (North Campus) in Amherst, N.Y.
The Ride For Roswell weekend begins with the Opening Ceremony on Friday, June 21. The second annual Ride Opening Ceremony will honor Roswell Parks patients, survivors, caregivers, riders, volunteers and sponsors who make The Ride one of Western New Yorks premiere fundraising events. Itll be an inspiring evening of tribute, video, and live music followed by a day of riding to remember forever. The Ride Opening Ceremony is free for all riders, volunteers, Roswell Park employees, cancer survivors and patients.
On Ride day, more than 10,000 riders, volunteers and supporters are expected at the event. This years routes fall into three categories Country Rides, River Rides and Family Rides (ranging from 3 to 104 miles) all on Saturday. Theres also the Extra Mile Club Peloton Ride on Friday night from Roswell to UB for 200 top fundraisers. Learn more about the routes here. Owen is a 6-year-old boy with type 1 diabetes, who was diagnosed 7 months ago. The purpose of the fundraiser is to raise money so that the family can purchase a diabetic alert dog for him. On Wednesday, June 26th the Valley Community Association will be hosting the fourth week of their Wednesday Night Summer Concert Series at Buffalo River Fest Park, located at 249 Ohio Street, Buffalo, New York. The concert will run from 6:30pm to 10:30pm and will feature the local A-List Band.
The A-List Band is a new band that was formed in June 2006. The group features five accomplished musicians with over a century of combined playing experience to give listeners the ultimate musical experience. The ...A-List Band has put together a library of material ranging from the classic standards of the 50's and 60's, to the great dance music from the 70s that everyone loves to listen to and dance to. This, combined with 80's and 90's classics, creates a true entertainment experience.
Parking is free and widely available. Food and refreshments will be sold at the concert, with all proceeds supporting maintenance of the Buffalo River Fest Park and other riverfront development efforts. No personal coolers will be allowed. Spectators are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets.

Ken will center his presentation on the poetry of everyday life, how the ordinary can become extraordinary when viewed through a poetic lens. To illustrate this, he will read selected poems from his book, "BEFORE THINGS CHANGE" and have a Q/A session after. Ken will also have his book and CD for sale, which I definitely suggest getting. Janna will be speaking about the art of delivery, emphasizing on diction, clarity and inflection, mainly getting to the meat of the poem/work and slicing it open on stage. Janna has been writing poetry since she was 5, and performing since age 12. Janna is a Grand Slam finalist 2005-2008 Nickel City Poetry Slam and member of the 2006 Nickel City Slam team at the National Poetry Slam. She is also an editor and layout artist for Earth's Daughters literary magazine, the longest running women's publication in the country.

There are countless free things for all attending to be listed. You will end [if you wish] with a spoken publishing credit, recorded, archived and promoted by me. If you attend the last workshop only, please be prepared to have a piece to [perform, read, sing?] then record. I will assign during June & July to prepare for August. Your final recording is 100% up to you. Virtual attendees will need to record this and send me the mp3 or wav file.
